More Dennis

A few days later, Dennis finally left.

The stairs are still there, surprisingly.  Next step is to get some supports in; the builder, Kaz, has already come by to look it over and get things rolling.

We're also going to fence in the area up by the dune to keep people from sitting there and eroding it further. We actually were pretty lucky compared to some others.  Darcee walked north a ways and reported that virtually every beach stairway north of us was completely destroyed, totally gone.

I took this next picture from the surf line up to the house.

There's a bit more house visible than before.  Compare to the similar shot in http://www.minasi.com/ducklot/dec20.html or http://www.minasi.com/ducklot/9jan98.html or the post-storm shot 18 months ago at http://www.minasi.com/ducklot/10feb98.htm  to see the changes.  Notice also the dune to the right has exposed the neighbor's house considerably, as you see in this following shot.

The water apparently washed through just past the walkway to the right of the picture.  Standing on that platform looking south looks like this:

This was about halfway between high and low tide.  But what does it look like at high tide?

A bit later in the day, I got this and the next shot from the deck to the water at high tide.  Compare this to the last photo in http://www.minasi.com/ducklot/finish1.html for some idea.  Another shot:

Anyway, when the tide's up there's still beach now that the storm winds have stopped.
