The Inside is Done, Mostly

On 1 April (no April Fool's jokes, please), Darcee and I went down to Duck to see if things were finished. Basically, the inside's done, but there are few things left outside -- screens on the porch, the hot tub, the dog run and doghouse, shelves in the outside showers, gates on the decks (to control infants and the dogs), a step in front needs shoring up, and some kind of trellis around the gas tank would be nice.

There're still a few things to do inside, actually. The security guys have left a small mess, not all of the light sconces are up, a couple of ceiling fans don't work, and there's a switch or two we haven't figured out yet. But I've got the key now (cool!) and am planning to move some stuff into the house next week, presuming I can get a truck for a reasonable price.

The front yard needs, as you can see, some landscaping. But the back yard looks pretty good:

The beach stair is now in. They did a great job with it -- nice, wide steps and a sturdy handrail.

Inside, all of the construction stuff is gone and the carpet's in. It turned out that (whew!) the carpet, walls, and wainscotting went together just fine.

It turned out that the refrigerator we ordered (right) is large enough to hang sides of beef in. I guess there's nothing wrong with excess capacity, at least I hope not. A shot from the dining room toward the kitchen and the foyer:

The fireplace is all in, including tile around the hearth:

Note the "I'm taking a nap now" legs.

A view toward the dining room. I may do another page once the window coverings are up but if not thanks for checking out these pages!
